Knuckles was happy that he was going to get to hang out with Tony - They used to talk more frequently than they had as of late and it was something Knuckles was looking forward to, to re-establish some of that communication.

Plus, he hadn't used his swords for a good long while and he was starting to feel bad about it - as if he was disrespecting his Sensei in a way, by not continuing with the training after Goroh had left.

So, he arrived at the stadium a little early, flicking through the different stages that were available to them. He'd let Tony chose whichever he wanted, but it was useful to know what was an option.
