For a moment, anyway. When Samus used the morph ball, it was usually to lure him into areas where he could not follow, or locales that would give her a distinct advantage. He ran after her with the hopes of closing the distance and punting her like a soccer ball, but she was a speedy little basketball and beat him out to the parking lot. By the time he caught up, she was already shooting missiles at him.
Falcon had little defense against projectiles and had to be in close quarters to land hits. His gun wouldn't do much damage against the Powersuit, so it was either DODGE MISSILES or find some cover until he could turn the battle in his favor.
Surely Samus would not blow up cars if she could help it, so that's where Falcon went. Diving and somersaulting out of the way of her assault, he ducked under Kyle's station wagon to await his opportunity.
