What: A BIG GAY ADVENTURE.

Going for icecream toward the end of September was a little weird, but their previous plans had been kind of ruined by the whole fake poisoning incident. So ice cream dates had to be postponed for a while.
In that while, Jeff had done a lot of thinking. Before the panic, Jeff had been feeling doubtful about his relationship and his feelings about things in general, and confided as much in Falcon. His date with Lucas was originally supposed to be a setup to have some kind of heart-to-heart so Jeff could figure things out if he even had the courage to voice his thoughts. But when he thought he was going to die, his top priority - besides making enough antidote for everyone - was making sure Lucas made it through, even at the cost of his own life. Maybe a scare like that was just what he needed to finally realize what truly mattered.
Maybe this would be a fun date after all!
...He was still a little worried about what Lucas thought about the whole thing though. If he didn't find some way to slip it into the conversation, he'd just drive himself crazy wondering about it... even more than he already had.
So here they were at last, seated at a familiar booth in the ice cream parlour. Now that they were here, there was no turning back. Time to man up, Jeff.
"Man up" obviously meant "poke anxiously at your ice cream with a spoon," because that was what he was doing.
"Um... So, how have you been since last weekend, anyway? I still can't believe anyone would pull something like that..."
