how are you gentlemen
Who: YOU
What: Some incredibly responsible individuals set us up the bomb
When: Friday, August 15th, evening, through August 19th
Where: Wherever you want to be.
Warnings: Who knows?
It starts with a low rumble, as if the school is suddenly subject to an earthquake. A quick glance out the window, however, proves that this is something else entirely.

The sky darkens as the bubble rapidly expands, consuming the edge of the forest before stopping. Unlike an ordinary explosion, however, the giant bubble left in its wake lingers, the clouds around it a deep purple.
It's not long after that the creatures begin to make their way through.
((Catch-all log for reactions, monster fighting, and general shenanigans from the 15th - 19th! Please refer to the event post for more details, and feel free to contact a mod if you have any questions.))

Pre-explosion BOMB SQUAD - Sheik, Ian, Gordon, Connor
Admittedly, she wasn't quite sure how to proceed, as most of the technology at the school was far beyond what she'd grown up with in Hyrule, but that was what the impromptu crew was for.
"I know working outdoors is not ideal, but..."

"We're gonna have to get this thing open before we do anything." He adds, then notices those worried glances to the crowbar at his hip. "Get it open... carefully."
no subject
He let himself also take watch, in hopes that no one entered their vicinity.
When he saw that the coast was clear, his attention was on the group again, hood seemingly covering half of his face. His gaze was fixated on Gordon, and he use of the crowbar.
He couldn't help it, he did truly feel uneasy.
no subject
Instead of attacking it with the crowbar, he drops a gloved hand onto the device, feeling cautiously for a latch of some kind. At length he lowers to one knee to get a better idea of how to open the thing. It's a bomb, and he's treating it like one.

Ian dons a headlamp for a little more light. He squats down on the other side of the bomb, across from Gordon. He lets out a low whistle, almost impressed.
"Definitely not the typical combustible I'm used to."
He draws a finger delicately over a seam, inspecting it closely before he pauses and pulls a thin flathead screwdriver. "Maybe we can pry it open here? Carefully.
no subject
He peers around it to Ian.
"Alright, give it a try. I'll let you know if the readings change."
no subject
"That's good, right?"
no subject
no subject
"Don't worry, just a minor setback..."
no subject
He works slowly, holding his breath the entire time, but it's careless mistakes that could really spell disaster and he's really not inclined to let those happen.
"Gonna hafta--" He finagles with the screwdriver "--use a little bit of force here"
He sort of cringes as he jams the screwdriver in. Not the most delicate operation, but it makes the outer panel falls to the ground.
"There." Big sigh of relief! Nothing has exploded yet. "Get anything now?"
no subject
"I'm getting particle signatures that have no business being here in four-space." He reports, shaking his head in puzzlement. "Stuff like this could really only exist in the first picosecond after the big bang! Just how the hell are they held stable in this thing...? You can't just freeze a universe at the moment of creation and stuff it into a jar, but I'll be damned if that doesn't look like what they did!"
no subject
All at once she thinks they've maybe bitten off more than they can chew.
The bomb itself is quick to confirm this, as it flashes and lights up. Gordon's geiger counter, for lack of a better phrase, goes nuts.
"That's...not good."
She's certain of that, at least.
no subject
This was perhaps a mistake. Connor could only wish he knew how to work these things, all he could do was watch, and he felt a horror creep up at him.
Was it going to be activated?
"Does this mean it could ignite?" Connor questioned, realizing that this was getting worse and worse. "Could you contain it?"
no subject
What she does understand is a digital countdown.
There's no telling how large the blast radius will be, and a minute isn't enough time to put any substantial distance between themselves and the bomb. She isn't about to spend it trying to disarm it, either, not when they could be using the time to get to safety.
"Grab onto me, all of you!"
no subject
"I hope you can get us out of here, because that's what we need to do!"
no subject
But again, he had to trust how the land worked and what the people could do. He hoped Sheik knew what she was doing.
