Apple Kid had a little booth set up in the quad, and a bag and a series of boxes behind him. There was a sign up front that read "Will trade food for inventions. One trade per person. Put your hand in the bag, and get an invention at random. Mystery! Excitement! Bartering!"

His mouse sat next to him. They drank glasses of fruit punch as they waited for the customers to roll in.

"Oh hey, what's this? Inventions for food?"

Huh... Why didn't she think of that? Out of simple curiosity, she fishes through her big grey bag and produces a pack of strawberry wafers, handing them over.

"So what kind of inventions are we talking about?"

Apple Kid takes the wafers.

"Oh, the left over odds and ends that were just gathering dust. Little things that I'd feel bad selling for money," said the Apple-themed Child.

He held the bag out to Lucca. "If you'd like to?" he suggested.

She reaches in and takes a slip of paper from the bag.

"Wow. That's gonna be useful."

She's learned about pizza. She likes pizza.

"How'd you think to combine all of those in one, huh?"

"Well, I thought that it might be nice to wake up to a fresh pizza in the morning, and while you were eating your pizza you might need some canned olives or tomato sauce to dip your pizza crusts in. The GPS is to make sure that you weren't relocated in your sleep without knowing it."

[tempus_fixit]

"Hah, yeah, relocated in your sleep... if I had a gold for every time THAT's happened..."

She chuckles, awkwardly.

"I'm surprised you didn't put a radio in it. Aw well, that's a pretty simple operation; I can add it in myself!"

"I only listen to number stations on shortwave radio," said Apple Kid, "So I didn't think about adding that feature."

Of course he does.

"I... see."

Err, okaaaaaaaay...

"Still, thanks a lot! This is gonna give me plenty of ideas."
