this is 100% not a fight log.
Who: Marie & Sasha.
What: Sparring. Accidentally almost evolving.
Where: THE STADIUM.
When: Friday (3/02), morningtime.
Warnings: FIGHTIN'. More Marie tears.
Between being stuck in Bulba's body for an entire week, everything that happened on and after Valentine's Day, and the reminder that Char was back, Marie was very tense. He had been quick to offer himself for a spar with his sister. Even without the desire to release some pent-up aggression, it had been a long time since they'd trained together. And it had been a while since Marie fought fairly with someone...
He got to the stadium just before his sister. Admittedly, he was a little nervous. Holding his type advantage over her always made Marie a little uneasy whenever they trained against each other. It was hard to be as careful as he usually was about her tail when they were fighting...
Despite his anxiety, though, Marie was looking forward to the spar.

hi
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhello
He sat down next to Vinnie and handed the venusaur a bowl with some apples in it. He had a bowl with popcorn and doritos.
"This is exciting!"
hi hi hi
"Thanks," he said as he bit into one and chewed thoughtfully. Pointing his gaze back towards his teammates in the stadium, he mused, "I wonder how much they've improved since I was gone."
no subject
"Hey," she called out, waving at him. "You ready for this?"
no subject
He waved back at her timidly and stepped a little closer.
"Uh. Yeah, I guess so." Pause. "Are you sure about this?" he asked, half out of genuine concern, but also because he usually tended to carry a certain cockiness with himself into any fight, no matter how nervous he was.
no subject
"So. We should pick a stage. Since I'm gonna be fighting you, water stages are out by default. Gonna have my hands full dodging yours anyway."
no subject
"I don't really care which one, just pick one of the ones that isn't stupid," he insisted.
no subject
"This one!" she said, pointing to the one labeled 'Animal Crossing'. "It seems simplistic and not too distracting."
Oh, what little she knew.
"Items or not?"
no subject
Oh, right, items.
"It's up to you," Marie replied. He shrugged his shoulders and added, "I don't usually turn them on, but whatever."
no subject
She pressed the OFF button and waited for the stage to load.
"We've got two minutes to warm up," she explained, before starting to stretch and crack her knuckles. With a sort of teasing looking, she grinned and waved off as she walked to the other side of the stage, her tail moving back and forth.
"Don't be too sad when I win."
She was just teasing him friendly-like. There was no malice in her voice.
no subject
"Yeah, right."
Warming up was not a concept Marie was entirely used to. Most of his formal (and informal) battles usually started abruptly with no two minute buffer to speak of. He took his place on the opposite side of the stage and self-consciously began to stretch. Nervous eyes wandered to his teammates in the stands. Seeing them there was both a little thrilling and nerve-wracking at the same time.
Two minutes passed much too slowly for Marie's tastes. When the time was almost up, he stood up straighter and nodded politely.
"Good luck, or whatever, right?" he commented over the countdown.

When the counter turned red to indicate ten seconds left, she adopting an attacking pose, knowing that it was best for her to attack as fast as possible, with Marie having the type advantage.
"Here we go!"
She let loose a large amount of fire towards him to test the waters.

For whatever reason, it hadn't occurred to Marie that Sasha would begin with a fire type move. He thought maybe she'd hit him or something along those lines. Even taking into consideration his type advantage, fire was hot and it burned things. He tried to tumble out of the way, and managed to avoid the attack with just a small flame on his sleeve which was quickly patted out.
It was entirely evident that Sasha had the upper hand as far as their human forms went. Sasha had been trained to fight this way. Marie had only fought anyone in his human form on accident. He was overthinking every move he made which made his movements awkward.
From where he had rolled to, Marie aimed at Sasha and spit a ridiculous amount of water at her. Careful of the tail... Hydro Pump wasn't always the most accurate, but he figured he'd start with his most powerful move.
no subject
Good.
She would have hated it otherwise. With a strange looking sort of grin, she blew out the water that had gotten in her mouth, as it turned into steam, and then the fire started back again, before cracking her hands together. The flame on the back of her tail was starting to rise up in temperature and height which served as a warning to Marie that Sasha was getting pumped up before she suddenly used the flames as a sort of momentum and launched herself at him to deliver some punches towards his chest.
no subject
Sasha delivered those punches, alright. Marie didn't block in time and he flinched as his sister hit his chest repeatedly. At the first hit, he let out a weird sound that was almost like a nervous squeak. As soon as he found an opportunity to get a hit in, he went for it.
Hitting girls in the face was generally frowned upon, but that is exactly where Marie aimed his fist at. To punctuate his attack, he spat just a small amount of water at her, too.
"You're good at this," he said, sounding a little short-of-breath already.
no subject
"You're no slouch yourself," she answered back, couching up a small amount of blood and spitting it on the ground. She opted to switch it up by suddenly diving to the ground and using both her feet and tail to try and knock him off balance.
please excuse my squirtle icon
It was an awkward angle, but they were both on the ground now. He over-thought his next mood for a second, wondering in the back of his head if it would be fair to tackle her. As far as he were concerned, there were no rules, and he dove at his sister after the momentary hesitation. He pinned her down as best as he could with what little muscle he had, and he vomited a torrent of water at her.
