Blind Dates A Tables

What: BLIND DATES!
Who: Anyone who was sent a note with A table number.
Where: Off-campus restaurant. AND BEYOND!
When: September 30th, 2011
Warnings: Who knows depending who is here.

[The first group's restaurant is invited to last year's Asian Fusion Dinning, considering nothing blew up and they didn't mind playing host again. The rooms looks fancy but down to earth and the menu is very varied. Still expensive, however, but you've been given a 100$ budget for eating each!

The lighting is dim, with flickering, oil candles on every table. The place is decorated in stylish black and browns, with Japanese and Chinese wallscrolls and paintings. The overhead
music is traditional yet somehow futuristic Asian music, to fit with the theme. Your servers are all dressed up for the occasion, and speak broken English.

Beside each candle, there's a card. Each card has a different letter-number combination.

Find your table!

OH YEAH AND FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!.

..well once you've actually talked with your date anyway. If you try to leave before that, they will try to stop you.]

Last year's blind dates had gone nicely, even though he hadn't felt an appetite going on. But that was okay, since his date hadn't wanted to eat anything on the menu, either. He forged a bond with Cyrus that night and got to know him a little better. To Rhys, that was enough reason alone to go for a second date.

This time, he considered, he was feeling more up to it than last time, as far as his health went- he didn't have any illnesses overtaking him this evening. Maybe he would even feel up to eating this time around? He entered the familiar restaurant with a smile and made his way to his assigned table. Looks like he was first to arrive. Oh, how exciting it will be, awaiting the person who claims the seat across from him! He tried not to look too eager, but there was no hiding that faint edge to his usual calm expression.

Sable felt pretty good about tonight. The past couple of times blind dates rolled around, for her it was very successful, so she hoped that she'll be paired up with another nice person tonight! She was running just a little bit late, but at least she managed to find the restaurant okay. It seemed that her date was already there, and it was a familiar face to boot!

"Hello! I guess we'll be eating together tonight," Sable greeted, taking her seat at the table.

His face lit up when she greeted him and took her spot. "Oh, hello there, Sable! My, how wonderful it is, having you be my dinner date tonight! It's a nice surprise."

"Oh, yes, I agree!" she responded happily. "It's been a while since we've had some time to talk, huh? So, how have you been?"

"Well, we talked over the network shortly, but beyond that, no, we haven't! I've been doing great, actually. I'm not sick or anything! Two of my friends have returned after an absence, so that did me some good." That was pretty much all he had been up to, wasn't it? Ah well; there was more time to add more to their conversations later. No need to push it in one gallop.

"Oh, that's so good! Reuniting with friends after a long time is always so exciting..."

Her eyes slowly drifted up to the ceiling. "Oh yes, and I'm also glad that you're not sick! I don't mean to pry too much, but, you seem to not feel well most of the time, don't you?"

Rhys shook his head, the smile on his face softening even more. "No, I don't. Much to my disdain..." The healer was used to describing his permanent condition by now. It was easy to address.

"But despite my physical shortcomings, I get along pretty nicely, I think. Did you ever manage to fix your sleep problem, by the way?"

"I did, yes! I eventually went out walking with Knuckles. Just being out of my apartment really took me off my mind. ...granted, the next day was a bit hard to get through, but I think that's normal. I must have collapsed by 8 the next night, hee hee!"

"Oh, that sounds wonderful!" Rhys rejoiced with his palms pressed together. "A walk with a friend is sure to wring out any spare thoughts that might be keeping you awake at night. Plus, it's nice to have company."

"Absolutely! It's been a very long time since I've been able to take a nice walk like that, even if it was at four in the morning..." she replied, nodding. Traveling, even if it was just a short walk, was something that the porcupine liked to do, although time was scarce to do so at this point because of school.

"Come to think of it, it's been a while since I've gone anywhere for pleasure. Rhys, do you like to travel much?"

Re: TABLE A7

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I do," he replied with enthusiasm pushing at his tone. "Traveling is fun, because you get to see new places you've never been to before. It's always good to have a change of pace every once in a while, I say." In any capacity, really. Rhys too was one to enjoy strolls, even if it was a measly block of distance. His fragile constitution, however, prevented him from meandering too far down any path lest he risk overdoing it and breaking into fatigue. This reason alone may have contributed to his partiality to walks, but it can't be said for sure. You didn't have to be tethered to a room's worth of space for a majority of your life to enjoy a good excursion or two.

"I used to travel all over the continent where I came from, with my mercenary band. The long hikes from place to place were long and sometimes arduous, but tired feet aside I really do think I have a wanderer's spirit burning inside me." He seemed tickled by this very thought. "Before that, I never got out much. But I wanted to!"

"Oh, I bet you do, especially if you're able to travel in such long distances like that!" Sable concurred, taking a small sip of water from her glass. It was fascinating to her that Rhys traveled so far, even with his sickly condition. Admittingly, the porcupine had never traveled that far of a stretch in her life, so she was a tad bit envious of him.

"While you were on your travels with your band, did you ever see anything fascinating?" she asked out of curiosity.

Re: TABLE A7

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-10-09 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Many, many fascinating things..." he began, suddenly lost in meteoric relapses of his memories on journeys. "I can't find a place to start off with! We ventured into new cities, new countries... even ones full of magical people who can change form from animal to people and back again. They're called laguz, by the way."

Upon second thoughts, Rhys realized that it might not seem so strange to some people, especially to the ones who inhabited FDC. Like Sable. Almost everyone he met proved capable of shifting form, provided they weren't actually human in the first place. "Oh... but it probably doesn't strike you as odd. And I guess... for me, too, I had already heard tales of cat men and raven men from far away lands, in my youth. So I knew of them. But seeing them for the first time... It was a very memorable experience!"

"Well, I still find it interesting!" Sable remarked, her ears perking up. While living here for a while made her get used to the whole transformation scene, it was still intriguing to hear that there were some kinds of creatures out there that could transform from humans to animals willingly.

"Where I come from, there are many different animals that live in my village, as well as a few humans...but none of them can transform into anything. So, to hear about these laguz and how they can turn into different things whenever they want to, I find that fascinating!" she added.

"Your village sounds lovely," Rhys remarked with enthusiasm. "I would love to visit if I had the chance. I bet the folks there are all kinds of delightful to meet." If they were anything like Sable, then oh yes, definitely, he thought. Not all animals talked or shared lives that could relate to humans. By now, it was becoming a well-accepted fact for Rhys that they were hardly any bit different.

"So what is your family like?" he asked.

Re: TABLE A7

"Well, I have two younger sisters," Sable began, taking another sip of water. "One of them is looking over the family tailor shop. I'm actually very surprised that she's been able to do this for a few years without my help! Then again, she's much more of a sociable porcupine than I am, she can welcome new customers in rather easily...

"And my other sister..." she trailed off, looking up at the ceiling. "Well, she, ah...I believe she's working in the city now. At least, that's where she was the last time I heard from her."
