As the school's clocktower strikes midnight on Halloween, the carnival's true purpose is made known. Ethereal fog shrouds the fairgrounds and the ground shakes as the portal opens, allowing spirits from other worlds to walk among the living.



Well, dang. They don't seem malevolent, however. Maybe all you can do is make the best of it.

[ When life gives you lemons, punch life out and then make life buy you a whole lot of food. That's Taokaka's philosophy, anyway. Can ghosts eat? She either doesn't know or care to know the answer to that, but she's going to pounce any poor unsuspecting sap she sees and mug them for candy. Especially the protagonist types. They're always suckers. ]

[ IT'S A PLANE! IT'S-- No wait, it's just a couple of idiots. My bad.

Tao had been lying in wait for so long, she had almost forgotten what she was supposed to be doing there. And then the friendly neighborhood angel comes along, and she DOES forget what she's supposed to be doing-- those wings are so much more interesting... !

And so she leaps out of some nearby shrubbery at her "prey". She'll explain in a minute. Maybe. ]

Aaah!

[Pit is pinned to the ground, his balloons leaving his grasp and flying away to join the stratosphere. While it is possible she may only be a spiritual projection, she manages to knock the angel down.]

Ow... H-hey, what gives? [His back sure did "give" out!] Who's on top of me?

[ Get your weaksauce puns outta here. Also, whoever is on top of Pit doesn't give a direct answer. She does start gnawing on his wings though. Not enough to really hurt him, but man those are some sharp teeth Taokaka has. ]

Yeeeeeeooooooow!!

[YOU CAN'T TELL PIT WHETHER HE HURTS OR NOT!! Okay, maybe he's overreacting a bit. But it still smarts! In response, he fidgets around in a rush to escape from his predator.]

I'm not chicken! I'm angel! It's the other white meat! The one you can't eat! Please let me go...

Tao's food isn't supposed to talk back, you know!

[ Nibble nibble, completely ignoring Pit. A good whack in the face should solve the problem, though... ]

[Instead, he keeps trying to use his legs to kick backwards at the feline presence. It doesn't go as well as he likes.]

Auuugh, gross! Cat spit!

[He twists over, frees an arm, and bops her on the head.]

[ That did the trick. The Kaka villager hops backwards off the luckless angel, landing on her feet. If Pit was to turn around, he'd see his assailant giving him a stupid sheepish but unapologetic grin. ]

You didn't have to do thaaat, wing guy. [ Yes he did. ]

[Pit sprung up right quick so he wouldn't have THAT happen to him again!]

You weren't letting go! If you were about to be cat food, what would you do?

But if the Squiggly tries to eat any of them I'll beat the crrrrap out of it, meow!

[ She extends her claws and throws little punches in front of her for emphasis. ]

Yeah, the squiggly! Sometimes it comes out of the sewers near the village and tries to eat us, meow. I bet it would eat you too, wing guy!

[ That sure is descriptive. Unless Pit has something to draw with on him that's as good as he's going to get. Probably. Maybe. ]

Let me guess. It looks like a snake.

[Snakes sure are squiggly, and they've tried to eat him before, so... ???]

Nuh uh, meow. The squiggly looks like a squiggly, meow.

[ Someone else entirely came to mind when Pit said the word "snake", but that was neither here nor there. On to more pressing matters! ]

So are you gonna give me food or what, wing guy?

Can't you just get your own? It's a festival. There's food all over the place.
